SURAT: Even after two weeks of application submitted by a women alleging rape by former Gujarat BJP MLA and senior leader Jayanti Bhanushali, the accused has not been interrogated. It may be reminded that the Sarthana Police has registered a case of Rape, kidnapping and other charges.
Bhanushali had resigned as the state BJP vice-president after the rape allegation on June 13 and represented the Abdasa constituency in Kutch from 2007-2012.
When the Burkha clad complainant reached the police commissioner's office in Athwaline about two weeks back, she was immediately taken by the Crime Branch (DCB). There was a high voltage drama outside the Police Commissioner's office as several congress leaders and members barged into the office along with the complainant leading to a confrontation with the cops posted there.
Now the investigation has been handed over to the Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone IV, Leena Patil.
A few days after the complaint was lodged, the lady who had accused of rape, went missing along with her family members. It was only after a notice was pasted on her house wall, she reached the police station to register her statement.
The woman in question, has also alleged that Bhanushali forced her several times to enter into a physical relationship with other men as well. was handed over to Patil.
Day before yesterday, the cops under the direction of Patil, reached The Ummed Hotel in Ahmedabad and examined several records of the hotel apart from collecting documentary evidenced of their stay in the hotel.
Meanwhile, a video of Bhanushali and the victims has been doing rounds on the social media since a few days.
The woman has alleged that the police was not doing its job properly and the accused has not been questioned even after so many days. it is evident that the police want to hide something. The said victim was also escorted to the hotel where she informed the police that apart from the hotel she was also raped in a farm. The police team also paid a visit to the nearby farm.
However, despite a wait of about two weeks to question the accused, the police officials claim that the investigations are being done in a free and fair manner and the guilty will not be spared.
