This man’s fight for abolishing parking charges at commercial mall yeilds result as Surat Police Orders Free Parking

Meet Sanjay Ezhawa, the social activist from Surat instrumental in saving lakhs of rupees of public money which was going straight into the pockets of the mighty mall owners of the city without giving any services from their side.

Courtesy Sanjay Ezhava. “I had filed a PIL in Gujarat high court two months ago. The state government and Surat Municipal Corporation are supposed to submit their replies on July 25. This is an interim relief and we expect a permanent order on this from the state government,” said Sanjay Ezhawa, president, Surat Airport Action Committee (SAAC) Charitable Trust.

Taking strong exception, the city Police has put an end on the parking charges by collected by city complexes.  Ezhawa also informed that if there are problems, the citizens can complaint about parking issue either on number 100 or 9081991100

Under the direction of the Surat police, they have banned collection of any type of parking charges by commercial complexes, malls and multiplexes in the city from Monday. Now commercial complexes, malls and multiplexes cannot charge visitors for parking their vehicles there.

The City police commissioner Satish Sharma while commenting on the issue, said: “Like Ahmedabad, parking charges should not be collected by owners of any commercial complexes, malls and multiplexes in the city from visitors. I am requesting those who manage these properties to ensure free parking in their parking areas. Police will start issuing notices to property owners who charge for parking.

 "Many people are compelled to park their vehicles on roads because the commercial complexes and malls charge for parking", he ended.
