Kolkata: Meet Saira Shah Halim and Ruchhita Kazaria from Kolkata. While Saira is often found to be a part of debate panels on news channels, Ruchhita is somewhat subtle and glued to books most of the times. While one is outspoken when issues of National Importance are discussed, the second is busy in gathering information through books, journals and periodicals.
While Saira, is known in the subcontinent for her outspokenness, Ruchhita is a known figure in South Asia for her 'Aman Ki Asha' with Pakistan and host of other activities for peaceful existence of mankind.
Which binds her together is their bonding and Nationalism.
While a chunk of people in India are busy in dividing the nation among nationals and anti nationals, between good hindus and bad muslim. Their friendship from decades now is a silver lining to look upto.
Though I met Saira a couple of times, my first and only meeting with Ruchhita took place in 2019. Both of them brimming with ideas and both focused on creating an environment for peaceful con existence.
Both of them have traveled extensively in South Asia propagating the message of peace and harmony and their works had been widely acclaimed in Bangladesh and Pakistan and other South Asian countries. Their friendship has never faced any challenge due to divisive politics though I am not sure about their political inclinations. I never felt the necessity to ask them. Their friendship was more important to me as a journalist than knowing about their political stands.
Most of the time the two gorgeous ladies prefer to travel together as they understand each other better than one can understand his or her own relatives. They prefer to stay together and hang out together. No religion, no politics had ever been able to come in between. And this is my India.
My Idea of India.
