Surat's Bengali Jewellery Samaj & Bharat Bharti leads the city in Food Distribution

Surat:  Bharat Bharti Trust & Bengali Jewellery Samaj in Surat has always led from the front whenever the city has been in distress or its residents are under siege of an epidemic or natural calamity. Apart from being socio cultural group, Bharat Bharati has time and again proved to be a citizen friendly organisation and its members ever supportive. Bengali Jewellery Samaj has also come forward with Bharat Bharti apart from Ved Road Durga Puja Committee.

This time as well, during the Corona Virus breakdown and a complete lockdown in Surat, Bharat Bharti trust along with Begali Jewellery Samaj & Ved Road Durga Puja Committee has led the city in philanthropy. Their members adhering to the government call to maintain distance, has been working since the initial days of the lockdown. Serving the poor, the needy and the people who need food especially the section of the people living in slums and earning on a day to day basis. A team of volunteers of Bharat Bharti and Bengali Jewellery Samaj can always be found helping these needy people  including zari workers, jewellery workers, and labours in other sectors.

According to member Basudev Adhikari, around 700 to 800 food packets were being distributed on regular basis during the early stages. Now the number of food packets have increased to 1000 per day.

Adhikari says that incidents like Sardar Market should be stayed away from. He urged the people in general to feed people who need it next door or reach out to him or Bharat Bharti so that no body sleeps empty stomach.
